Wentzville is one of the fastest growing cities in Missouri, and with good reason: affordable homes, plentiful employment, and abundant shopping opportunities make Wentzville a fine place to live and work. There are many options for affordable housing, including contemporary ranch homes, older farm sites, and ample new construction.

Wentzville was founded in 1855 as a depot on the Northern Missouri Railroad. It’s odd moniker comes from Erasmus Livingston Wentz, a railroad engineer for the line. During the American Civil War, the city was the site of a series of skirmishes along the railroad during the summer of 1861.

The city is also the topic of George Thorogood's song "Back to Wentzville" from his album, Bad to the Bone.

Wentzville is called the “Crossroad to the Nation,” which isn’t too far from the truth. Situated near the intersection of interstates 64/40 and 70, Wentzville manages to be easily accessible while still feeling “off the beaten path.”

As the site of the county fairgrounds, Wentzville hosts the annual St. Charles County Fair, St. Louis Pirate Festival, and the Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire.

Abundant choices for retail shopping and dining out are featured along Wentzville Parkway. Currently, the city is moving forward with the new Splash Station Aquatic Center. Existing city amenities include playgrounds, sports fields, amphitheater, fishing, senior center, recreation center, outdoor swimming, trails and more.

Public education is offered through the Wentzville R-V School District. Various private schools are also available in the area, along with assorted university opportunities in neighboring towns in St. Charles County.
